Almighty God, I thank you for your past blessings.
Today I offer myself - whatever I do, say, or think -
to your loving care.
Continue to bless me, Lord.
I make this morning offering in union
with the divine intentions of Jesus Christ
who offers himself daily in the holy sacrifice of the Mass,
By the Immaculate Heart of Mary,
Queen of Peace, set up Your kingdom in our country.
Enter closely into the midst of our families
and make them Your own
through the solemn enthronement of Your Sacred Heart
so that no one cry may respond from home to home.
May the triumphant Heart of Jesus be everywhere loved,
blessed and glorified forever!
I met the Columban Fathers for the first time in my hometown, Seoul, during the summer of 1953. Korea was at war then. Amid destruction and the chaos of war, I was trying to leave home for a college in America. As the oldest of five children of a widow, apart from the promise of a full scholarship, the friendship of a U.S.
Most sweet Jesus,
humbly kneeling at Your feet,
we renew the consecration of our family to Thy Divine Heart.
Be our King forever.
In You we have full and entire confidence.
May Your spirit penetrate our thoughts,
our desires, our words and our works.
Bless our undertakings,
share in our joys,
in our trials and in our labors.
My dear Redeemer,
it is not from custom or human respect
that I come to receive You;
but it is solely to love and be united with You,
to live by You and for You,
to be delivered from my miseries,
to clothe myself with Your virtues,
to strengthen myself against my enemies;
it is to ask from You the exaltation of the Church,
Pope Francis continually reminds us that the Church is missionary and is called to reach out to the poor, to sinners, to unbelievers and to those who live on the margins of modern society. In 2016 Pope Francis called the Church to celebrate a Year of Mercy and to discover once again the importance of the spiritual and corporal works of mercy.
I hope to love You for all eternity. O Eternal God!
Oh that I had always loved You!
Oh that I had died rather than have offended You!
I give You my will, my liberty;
dispose of me as You please.
May my only happiness be to please You, O Infinite Goodness.
O my God! I rejoice in that You art infinitely happy.
Gracious and Holy Father,
Please give me:
intellect to understand you,
reason to discern you,
diligence to seek you,
wisdom to find you,
a spirit to know you,
a heart to meditate upon you,
ears to hear you,
eyes to see you,
a tongue to proclaim you,
a way of life pleasing to you,
patience to wait for you
My Jesus, I place all my sins before you.
In my estimation they do not deserve pardon,
but I ask you to close your eyes
to my want of merit
and open them to your infinite merit.
Since you willed to die for my sins,
grant me forgiveness for all of them.
May no longer feel the burden of my sins,
a burden that oppresses me beyond measure.
In 1994, in two separate mission countries, misfortune would cut down two members of the Columban family – one priest and one lay missionary.
