Dear St. Joseph,
The bible never quotes your words.
We know you through the gospels
as the protector of our Lord Jesus
and his blessed mother, Mary.
We know you by your actions and your dreams.
Help us to take action, to do all we can in this time of crisis
to lovingly keep those around us safe.
Lord, guide me in Your truth and teach me Your ways.
Forgive me for the times I have withheld mercy,
compassion and love from my sisters and brothers.
Show me how to use the gifts of love and goodness
You have created in me.
In January 2019 I returned to Taiwan with my husband Jung-Woong Bosco as a Columban lay missionary couple. At the moment, I’m completing month seven of a full year, full-time study of the Mandarin language.
I believe as human beings we all have a call, a call to be a particular type of person. From my early existence, born into a particular family at a particular time in a particular community, I was very familiar with the relationship between God and His children being structured around a call.
Heavenly Father, it is written that the
fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
I pray that You will prevent me from being lazy,
careless or neglecting the important things in my life.
Give me the wisdom to listen and make
informed decisions based on truth not talk.
God the creator keeps faith with the universe forever
in the evolving journey of planets, plants and animals
loving humanity and guiding our journey
to become the saints God wants for our time.
The power of the Cross reveals
Your judgment on this world
And the kingship of Christ crucified.
Father, through His love for us
And through His Sufferings, Death and Resurrection,
May I gain eternal life with You in heaven.
The Japanese Catholic community in Hong Kong celebrated the Fifth Sunday of Lent with a Eucharist by teleconference. Church gatherings had been canceled for over two months in Hong Kong because of the coronavirus pandemic forcing a restriction on all large gatherings so three of us on the Columban General Council here in Hong Kong decided to reach out and concelebrate the Eucharist while beaming it live from our house in Kowloon.
Every day in our lives we meet people of various ages and from different backgrounds. Many of them we don’t know but some of them we get to know and interact with. And maybe, in one way or the other, whether we know them personally or not, certain people make an impact on our life.
Lord, You are the source of love and peace.
Soften my heart that I may learn to love
those who have hurt me.
