Let us begin with a story: Equally qualified, Carmen and Diane both sought employment with the same local company. Both prayed to God for help, and the company granted both women interviews.
O God, Who, through Your blessed Apostles Simon and Jude,
have brought us to the knowledge of Your name,
grant that we may celebrate their everlasting glory
by advancing in good works,
and that we may advance in good works by celebrating their glory.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Who lives and reigns with You,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God,
O Lord our God,
You alone are the Most Holy King and Ruler of all nations.
We pray to You, Lord,
in the great expectation of receiving from You,
O Divine King, mercy, peace, justice and all good things.
Protect, O Lord our families and the land of our birth.
Guard us we pray Most Faithful One.
Protect us from our enemies and from Your Just Judgment
All praise to You, O God, this night
For all the blessings of the light;
Keep us, we pray, O King of kings,
Beneath Your own almighty wings.
Forgive us, Lord, through Christ your Son,
Whatever wrong this day we've done;
Your peace give to the world, O Lord,
That we might live in one accord.
All you holy angels and archangels,
thrones and dominations,
principalities and powers,
the virtues of Heaven,
cherubim and seraphim,
praise the Lord forever.
Amen.
Lord, bless this day for me and for all of us.
Make it a day in which we grow more like Your Son,
our Lord Jesus Christ.
Lord Jesus Christ,
friend and brother,
may we know You more clearly,
love You more dearly,
and follow You more nearly,
day by day.
Amen.
Columban lay missionary, Liliani Maafu, shared the story of what happened while traveling to work in a jeepney (bus). Originally from the kingdom of Tonga, Liliani was assigned to the Philippines in 2015 where she began a six month course studying the Cebuano language. Finishing her course, Liliani was assigned to a small chapel and to Women’s Ministry for the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro.
In our tribulation we fly to You, O blessed Joseph;
and, after imploring the help of your most holy Spouse,
we ask also with confidence for your patronage.
By the affection which united you to the Immaculate Virgin Mother of God,
and the paternal love with which you embraced the Child Jesus,
we beseech you to look kindly upon the inheritance
O Holy Trinity,
we thank you for having given to the Church,
Pope John Paul II,
and for having made him shine with your fatherly tenderness,
the glory of the Cross of Christ
and the splendor of the Spirit of love.
